30-Day Anime Challenge, Day 21 – Favourite Goofy Anime Character

Well, like some previous entries, this category has a lot of entries in it. Almost every anime has a character that qualifies as goofy, so once again I created a couple rules. First of all, they can’t be the main character. Just an arbitrary rule, but I decided on it because it would be and unfair for the other good characters who don’t happen to be protagonists. Secondly, they can’t serve as a punching bag for the main character/cast. That’s way too overdone. So, with those rules in mind, I choose…

T.K. (Angel Beats!)

T.K. is a very unique character. He has a very strange way of living. He always speaks in English and narrates what he does. He’s always dancing or moving somehow, and saying cool things while he does it. Why? I have no idea. Possibly because he can and he wants to. I’m very much looking forward to the Angel Beats visual novel, in part because I hope it expands on T.K.’s character a bit more.

Seriously, how can you not love this guy?

30-Day Anime Challenge, Day 18 – Favourite Supporting Female Character

So, very much unlike my favourite supporting male character, my favourite supporting female character is definite and obvious. She’s from one of my favourite shows, and is one of my favourite archetypes. In other words, she’s pretty much great. Many of you probably like her, or would like her, too. She is…

Hasegawa Kobato (Haganai)

So Kobato is pretty much the best little sister character ever (barring one, glaring exception). Not only is she downright adorable, she has a love for her older brother that borders on incestuous. I don’t think she’d ever goes that far, but she really does love him, despite how she acts most of the time.

Kobato suffers from a “disease” called eighth-grader syndrome, where she tries to be all dark and fantastical. It’s not exactly uncommon, but she creates a new persona for herself based on a show she watches (incidentally called Full Metal Necromancer). She is known as Reisis V. Felicity Sumeragi, and has a typical laugh of “ku ku ku” whenever she says almost anything. It’s pretty amazing, to be frank, and is a lot more interesting than it seems at a surface level.

Sounds annoying, right? Dead wrong. If you enjoy cute girls doing cute things, then Kobato definitely has that in spades. Kobato is one of the best characters in Haganai, despite being just a supporter. Highly recommend.

30-Day Anime Challenge, Day 17 – Favourite Supporting Male Character

Well, damn, this is a bit late. Unfortunately, I was rather busy today, so this post had to come late out of necessity. As an aside, my favourite supporting male character is actually quite difficult to decide, as supporting characters are supporting characters for a reason. I decided to choose a character from a recent show for no particular reason. He’s the most hilarious supporting male character I’ve ever known, because he’s different. You’ll see.

Sure you are, Saika, sure you are

Totsuka Saika (Yahari Ore No Seishun LOVE-com Wa Machigatteiru)

Ignoring the fact that this show is downright amazing, Totsuka makes it even better by providing a level of sexual ambiguity that only he could possibly provide. On several occasions, the main character almost abandons what he’s doing because Totsuka is that adorable.

Don’t take my word for it. Watch the show. You’ll see what I mean. Better yet, I have a bit of a teaser for you too.

This post ended up being shorter than it usually is. I wish I had more to say, but Saika is awesome in his own respect. Oregairu is a good show in its own respect, but Saika just makes it better.
